Membership FAQ

Membership FAQ

Why do we have a membership program?
Gilbert House Children’s Museum’s membership program provides community members with extra benefits and incentives to come and play multiple times throughout the year.

Why does it matter that Gilbert House Children’s Museum is a non-profit organization?
A children’s museum is defined as a nonprofit educational and cultural institution committed to serving the needs and interests of children by providing exhibits and programs that stimulate curiosity and motivate learning. Our primary focus is working with and on behalf of our membership. All activities are in service to the enrichment, expansion, and advancement of the community we serve.

How do reciprocal benefits work?
As a member of Gilbert House Children’s Museum, you willl be able to visit partnering museums that have a shared mission. Benefits range from discounted to free general admission to children’s museums and science centers across the country. Please visit our website prior to traveling to verify our current partnerships. Unless otherwise noted in our membership materials, museums located within a 90-mile radius of Gilbert House are not eligible for ASTC Passport Program benefits.

Can my family or friends bring my kids to play?
Gilbert House memberships are non-transferrable and at least one of the adults named on the membership needs to be onsite in order for your party to be granted admission.

How often can I come and play?
As a Gilbert House member you are welcome to come and play every day that we are open. See membership policy for exceptions.

Do I get discounts for events, party rentals, and gift shop purchases?
As a Gilbert House member you will receive advance notice and member pricing for Gilbert House events, classes and programs. Your Gilbert House membership does not provide event and program discounts at partner museums. You will also receive discounts on party room rentals and gift shop purchases (food and beverage excluded).

If my membership includes guests, how does that work?
When you check in at the Welcome Desk, simply mention to the Visitor Service Associate the number of guests that you have with you. Any guests in your party over the guest limits of your membership will be charged the regular admission price.

How do I get a physical membership card?
If you prefer a physical rather than digital membership card you may request one at the Welcome Desk. There will be an additional fee to receive this card.

When does my membership begin?
Membership benefits last for one year from the time of purchase. If you are purchasing membership as a gift, we encourage you to purchase a gift card for the value of the desired membership level. Memberships may be upgraded at anytime during the year, but this does not extend the membership period.

My child has a caregiver/direct service provider do they have to pay admission?
Nannies, caregivers and other direct service providers must pay regular admission to access the museum and must accompany the children they provide care for throughout the museum. Members may list this individual as one of the named adults on their membership, however, the identification provided at time of entry must match the adult named on the membership.
