Science Night for Adults on June 22

Our first Science Night for Adults of the 2017 series will be held on Thursday, June 22, from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. Scott Meyer and Karen Holman of the Willamette University Department of Chemistry will present on the “The Chemistry of Sustainable, Renewable Energy.” Tony Smiley (The Loop Ninja) will play live music, guests will enjoy a raffle with prizes, and food will be available for purchase from The Kitchen on Court Street, who is donating all evening proceeds back to Gilbert House Children’s Museum.  Adult beverages will also be available for purchase, donated by Gilgamesh, Casa Bruno Wines, and Wandering Aengus Ciderworks.

“We’re looking forward to an enjoyable and engaging evening,” says Alicia Bay, Executive Director of Gilbert House Children’s Museum.  “We’re grateful to all of our generous sponsors who are donating their time, talent, and products to make this event a successful one, and we hope many will take advantage of this evening out to show their support for Gilbert House.”

The Museum will remain open during Science Night for Adults so adults can enjoy our exhibits. Tickets will be available at the door only. Tickets are $8 for Gilbert House members and $10 for nonmembers.

In association with Marion Cultural Development Corporation, and the West Salem High School Latino Club, Gilbert House Children’s Museum is delighted to host a special Dia Del Niño event at Gilbert House on Sunday, April 30th.

This special celebration of children will be full of fun crafts and performances.  From 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on April 30th, visitors will be able to enjoy games, crafts, face painting, a photo booth, and more! A traditional Mexican dance will be performed by members of the West Salem High School Latino Club.

“Working with members of the Latino Club has been a great experience,” says Ryan Kinnett, Outreach Coordinator at Gilbert House Children’s Museum. “These young men and women have come up with great ideas for crafts and performances. We are all excited to share this day with Gilbert House visitors.”

Dia Del Niño has been celebrated annually in Mexico since 1925. This holiday celebrates children and their important place in society.

All Dia Del Niño activities and performances are included with admission to Gilbert House Children’s Museum. Admission is $8.00 (Ages 3-59), $6.00 (Ages 60+), $4.00 (Ages 1-2), $4.00, and FREE for Gilbert House members and children under 1.

Registration for our popular summer camps is open! Gilbert House members should have received an email with login information earlier this week. If you’re not a member, register for a new account. Camps start July 10, and there are great new camps to choose! Spots are filling up fast! Register today!

No more Monday blues…Mondays are FUN DAYS! Gilbert House Children’s Museum is now open 7 days a week (until Fall), and we are offering 1/2 price admission four Mondays in a row! Visitors to the Museum on the following Mondays – February 27, March 6, March 13, and March 20 will enjoy 1/2 off regular admission*.

*Admission for ages 3+ will be $4, and admission for ages 1-2 is $2. Children under age 1 and members are free. No other discounts apply.
