MUSEUM AS CLASSROOM
Welcome
to a place rich with child-centered activities, where teachers
nurture curiosity and the desire to learn. The preschool, designed
for ages 3-5, is housed within Salem's renowned children's museum.
THE

Early childhood education is increasingly identified as a fundamental
necessity to giving youngsters a good start in education. All
classes are led by certified instructors and supported with
trained and skilled paraprofessionals.

MEET
THE TEACHER
Christopher
Ross has 24 years experience teaching and working with young
children in many different capacities. He has been a counselor,
a classroom teacher, an instructor of gifted children, a testing
coordinator, a mentor, legal guardian for a foster son, and
just plain dad. Mr. Ross was a credentialed teacher in both
Arizona and California, and he currently expects his Oregon
State Teaching License this month (August 2008). He taught for
10 years at Ganado Primary School which received the designations
of National Blue Ribbon School and Arizona A+ School while he
was there. He is a trained ESL and reading instructor, and has
extensive experience working with all kinds of children and
with all ranges of early childhhod development. Mr. Ross holds
a Master's Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University
and, most recently, has completed postgraduate coursework at
Willamette University's Center for Excellence in Teaching. In
his free time, Mr. Ross enjoys hiking, gardening, reading, writing
and spending time with his wife and five-year old daughter.

PRESCHOOL
SCHEDULE

3 hour sessions
· A maximum of 15 students in either MWF, TTH, or M-F
sessions

A TYPICAL DAY (9:00 am - noon)

Independent and outdoor exploration time
· Large and small group learning centers
· Discussion of and experimentation with "The Big
Ideas of Science"
· Music and movement time
· Snack and hygiene instruction
