Sustainers Circle

Our Sustainers Circle is an exclusive group of donors who take pride in giving annually. We invite you to join this group by committing to an undesignated annual gift of at least $200 for five years. Did you know that more than 20% of Marion County’s children are living in poverty? Did you also know that education is said to be the leading way to fight the cycle of poverty? ACCESS, a Village outreach and diversity program, reaches out to children and families with limited resources and invites them to share in the valuable educational tools provided by A.C. Gilbert’s Discovery Village.

Through the ACCESS program, the Village partners with area nonprofits and Title I schools to truly “open the doors to a lifetime of learning.” ACCESS highlights: Reduced price membership packages for Title I schools and nonprofits, low cost educational programs for Title I schools, shelter outreach programs, and many others.

Donated Items

CARS

Give your vehicle another spin!With the assistance of Volunteers of America (VOA), A.C. Gilbert's Discovery Village now accepts donations of used cars. VOA takes care of everything, including selling the vehicle. You, the donor, receive tax advantages for 100% of what the vehicle sells for, and we receive 60% in cash. It's a win-win. Additionally, qualified donors will be sent a $30 gift certificate to any McMenamin's Restaurant. RECYCLABLES

Businesses, neighborhood groups, and families can help us out by collecting recyclable items for our educational programs and for Toy Inventor's Workshop. Below is a short list of items we need on a regular basis. If you have an item you'd like to donate and it's not on our list, call 503-371-3631 and we'll let you know if it's something we can use.

Special Event Sponsorships

Harvest Festival & Pumpkin Merriment - October - Annually

Ever bobbed for apples or eaten them off a string without using your hands? Have you had a chance to press apple cider or decorate pumpkins? The 2011 event had over 300 carved and lit pumpkins and we want that number to grow annually! In addition, we have a 4-H petting zoo, a pumpkin carving, and a hay bale maze. Great (pumpkin) fun! Sponsorship opportunities range from $2,000 to $75. Or help us beat last year's record by becoming a "Pumpkin Partner." Host a carving party at your workplace or school, and donate your creations to the the Harvest Festival display. New Year's Family Fun - December 31 - Annually

Family Fun New Year's Eve has quickly become the premiere family event on December 31 in the Mid-Willamette Valley. Imagine live musical entertainment and a theatrical show in an outside heated tent, a "ball drop" off the Erector set tower and loads of activities and crafts in all four of our houses! Our New Year's Eve event takes place during the early evening hours, finishing at 9:15 pm to allow families to return home and tuck in the young ones after the celebration. Sponsorship opportunities range from $2,000 to $100.

Garden Tour & Plant Sale - First weekend in June - Annually

This has been our organization's signature fundraising event for sixteenn years. Almost one thousand people, from Seattle to Roseburg, take our self-guided tour of select gardens and visit the plant sale at Mission Mill Museum. This event is completely volunteer-driven and every year it gets bigger and better! Sponsorship opportunities range from $2,000 to $100.

 


Village Event Sponsorships - Ongoing

Sizzlin' Science Festival - Annually in February

What is Sizzlin' Science? It's more than outrageous experiments, mind-boggling feats, and impressive explosions. This event, packed with hands-on activities and demonstrations, shows how science affects the world around us. With talks by real-life scientists and engineers, projects that sizzle, and activities that astound, this three-day festival offers a view into the importance of science and engineering that will inspire child and adults alike. Sponsorship Opportunities start at $100.00

Birthday Parties - ongoing

A.C. Gilbert's Discovery Village hosts dozens of children's birthday parties every month. As a sponsor, we could work out a package that recognizes your business on signage, in the newsletter and more! Call about custom sponsorship opportunities.

Scholarships

There are many, many organizations, schools, and individuals that request free programs from the Village. Classes start at only $45 and range to programs for the entire school for $485.00. Scholarships for summer camps, free admission and memberships are important to the community. Make a donation to our scholarship fund or if you prefer, we can help you select an organization if you don't have one in mind!

Corporate Memberships - (link to our current Corporate Members)

Corporate Memberships provides recognition throughout the year and as with our family memberships, corporate members receive member privileges. These include guest passes to use however you wish to use them (donations, employee families), discounts on family memberships for employees, recognition in our newsletter Discovery! sent to almost 4,000 members and on a sign in the Village, free or discounted evening rental of the entire facility, a hand-painted thank you tile and an invitation to join us for a corporate member luncheon. Memberships range from $1000 down to $500.
